In today's medicine, Ultrasound imaging is a safe medical imaging instrument, using sound waves to facilitate observation of internal anatomical structures, such as soft tissues and internal organs. Ultrasound imaging works by emitting impulses of sound energy along thin acoustic beams into the human body, and reconstructing the echoes of the original sound wave into a viewable image for diagnostic purposes. Compared to other medical imaging methodologies, such as MRI, XRAY and CAT Scans, ultrasound imaging can be a powerful tool for medical diagnostics. Until now, big machines with large footprints within modern clinics and hospitals have been the only sources of ultrasound imaging where a trained physician working with patients in one place. Thanks to recent joint collaboration of industry experts in the filed of Ultrasound, a new solution can now facilitate deployment of a portable ultrasound hardware, capable of real time transmission of ultrasound image sequence to a physician from remote. This new solution eliminates in most cases patient travelling to a near hospital or clinic, therefore offers potential lifesaving features from remote. iPresence -U solution is designed for mobility and working with off shelf computing platform while transmitting ultrasound image sequence over wireless networks.

With cooperation and supervision of WPI and Boston Universities departments of computer science and biomedical engineering, we have developed a bi directional audio and video and one way streaming methodology offering remote diagnostics over wireless while attached to a portable ultrasound device. iPresence -U is a comprehensive software solution for wireless ultrasound imaging and remote diagnostics using Terason T3000 portable ultrasound device. The iPresence - U software enables the remote user to conduct real time audio and video conferencing with an expert in reading and interpreting Ultrasound images - usually a Physician - while streaming high quality ultrasound images over wireless. This application offers unique capabilities for remote medical technician to seek in real time diagnostic opinion from trained medical doctors reading and viewing the remote ultrasound.

This custom software solution offers unmatched capabilities of video conferencing in low latency supporting bandwidth ranges starting from 9600 baud to true broadband ranges. This conferencing software offers level 1 encryption, low latency and unmatched performance over wireless networks. Currently ChaserView software offers point to point connection over wireless and as related work, a multi point, multi session and multi participant version due release in 2011. For easy deployment of software, the entire solution is developed using C++, resulting in small executable and fast download and deployment with less than 10 MB setup file. A fully functional free version of software is available for evaluation for 14 days. Most commercially available web cams are supported and working with ChaserView software.

In Addition to PC platform, ChaserView can operate on Pocket PCs with ARM CPU core or Intel core platform, offering bi directional audio and video conferencing, chat and picture transmission over wireless networks such as AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.

At the heart of ChaserView software, an innovative network/bandwidth manager offers unmatched access to granular level bandwidth selection ranging from 9600 baud, 14.4, 28.8, 33.6, 56k, 65, 128, 256, 384, 512,.... The ability to manage the bandwidth at granular level is unmatched by any other video conferencing software as most off shelf conferencing software requires a preset amount of bandwidth to operate. ChaserView is also fully secure, point to point operating over wireless in secure mode with no interaction from middle servers such as Skype or Google/Yahoo video.
