iPresence™-E software solution is designed to smoothly and effectively transmit live video or images from TotalExam Camera while attached to most wireless networks. The ability to wirelessly utilize the full range of training of a medical doctor can help save lives. Use iPresence software to display - in real time - the output of TotalExam camera. Real time medical advice from a real medical doctor is the best alternative short of having physical presence of a physician on site. This ability facilitates conducting certain medical procedures from a remote location which until now was not possible. Some of the possible real world applications are remote medical diagnostics for primary care, emergency medicine / trauma care, dermatology, opthalmology, wound care, and is an excellent solution to document abuse / injuries in real time.

By nature, wireless networks are highly prone to bandwidth fluctuations. To effectively transmit video and audio using these unsteady wireless conditions, a different approach to video conferencing is needed to overcome technical obstacles and operate within constraints of wireless conditions.

iPresence solution is result of dedicated research and development of custom wireless software architecture by Software by iPixCel in cooperation and supervision of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). iPresence is designed for bidirectional audio and video conferencing for wireless networks aiming at remote wireless users needing to conduct real time visual medical diagnostics.

Via wireless, a medical provider or emergency medical operator can be connected to trained doctors using wireless networks such as cellular or satellite connections - to secure wireless medical consultations. Some of the possible real world applications are remote medical diagnostics for primary care, emergency medicine / trauma care, dermatology, opthalmology, wound care, and is an excellent solution to document abuse / injuries in real time. iPresence software solution can be used with combinations of TotalExam Medical Examination Cameras, UltraSound Imaging Devices, and Web Cameras.

The first picture on the left above was captured from TotalExam Camera (freeze-frame) uncompressed. Using the same image from TotalExam camera we processed it through iPresence. Middle image above is compressed and ready for real time transmission (video format) for 128k over 2G or 3G networks. Image on the right above is set for 56k connection supporting 2G. Note that the images are not of H.264 origin. iPresence software automatically prepares the image (video) for available bandwidth range via the built-in bandwidth manager.
