During the BGAN user conference, iPixCel software - BGANX Communications, LLC conducted several sessions of testing the VideoMover Plus software in addition to ChaserView software product using a hand held - UMPC - device . All tests were conducted over BGAN network using AERO-SB-LITE terminal provided by Thrane & Thrane.
Results:
VideoMover Plus Version 5.1 - Video Streaming software
Video Size: 320x240 .
Frame rate: 15-18 frames .
Uplink Speed: 128k .
Network: Inmarsat BGAN .
Terminal: Thrane .
Latency: 4.2 second while receive station was attached to a public Internet feed . Best case latency at receive station: 3 seconds over QoS, tested in Oklahoma City
ChaserView software Version 1.1 - Video conferencing software
We used a Fujitsu UMPC while attached to BGAN terminal via RJ-45. This unit equipped with ChaserView using a built-in web cam. At the other end of Video Conferencing test, we used a Desktop PC equipped with a Web Cam and loade with ChaserView software. We scored 1 second delay end to end. Note that the Oklahoma City desktop PC was attached to COX Cable modem and New Orleans hand held UMPC was attached to an Aeronautical BGAN termianl. Our SIM card was provisioned with a STATIC IP Address so the Oklahom City desktop could call and conduct 2 way video conferencing.
